Were we once lovers? is a series of collages of old photographs of various dimensions. Each photo depicts a woman: above her body shapes the artist placed, instead, cut-out miniatures of bird figures. In this way the bird covers the face and hide the vision, prolonging or shaping the body features, becoming itself a part of the composition.
The series include around a hundred photos, mostly framed. The overall aim is to create a sort of a bird atlas behind which a private atlas of women, loved and disappeared, perhaps dreamed of, or never existed is hidden.
