Workshop
Engaging people and communities is a fundamental aspect of the artistic practice conducted by Alex Urso. Thus, Alex Urso frequently runs workshops – mostly aimed at children but involving also adults. The concept of “archive” – intended as personal, collective, and cultural memory – stands at the centre of these activities, which reflect also on the relation between past and present through the use of technology (e.g. augmented reality) and on the dialogue between humans, nature and city.
On the whole, Alex Urso’s workshops represent a space in which the participants are encouraged to work on their own private archive of memories and affections, channelling it into the creation of art objects through the manipulation and transformation of old photographs and other artefacts.
